Jardin La Torre is located at the junction of several bio zones, linking Cloud Forest with the Central Valley and the Pacific Coast.


Landscaped paths showcase the richness of Costa Rica's native plants, including bromeliads, heliconias, epiphytes, and cacti.


Paths lead you through our gardens:

  • Bromeliad Garden
  • Linear Garden (featuring heliconias, gingers, and hibiscus)
  • Cactus Garden, featuring cacti and agaves
  • Lower Garden, with its rock walls and colorful and native plants
  • Upper Gardens, a horticultural display garden, nursery, and natural growth area.

For more than 50 years, the botanical garden and residential community known as Jardin La Torre was a coffee plantation. It was bought in 2011 by the current owners, John and Caryl Buford, who pledged to reforest the land in keeping with Costa Rica's ecological goals.
